Care to Talk About...
Sep. 28th, 2011 09:51 amWhat's your favorite Star Trek series? Favorite episodes overall? Favorite character?
On another note, When I was at work for one of my last days (I had two jobs) they were having this discussion:
"It's so stupid we've just got a new line in. And apparently __________ is getting some new line in. Cardassians."
Me: ... Cardassians? Like Star Trek?
"No, not like Star Trek. I don't know what you're talking about. Dork!" (Affectionately, of course.)
I'm thinking they might have had the name wrong!

Date: 2011-09-29 05:02 am (UTC)My favorite episodes all have excellent dialogue, exquisite acting, and Garak. :0)
DS9 as a whole is my favorite because it features the ongoing religion and politics of a particular place.
Garak is my favorite for a number of reasons. He gets some absolutely great dialogue, and he's wonderfully performed by an actor with a lot of presence. I like how queer-coded he is, and I love it when he's camp. :0) I like his interactions with everyone, particularly Bashir -- I like how he questions things about our art and culture that don't usually get questioned. It's interesting to see how his culture has shaped him.

Date: 2011-09-29 06:52 pm (UTC)I think my favorite episode may have been Charlie X, as weird as it seems. I mean, they rescue him but the condition is he can never be with people? Ever? They end at his life being an unresolvable torturous existence and I kept thinking about how awful his situation was and whether they were right to actually let him go alive, heh.
